Mantooth chords (1) – major

In this series I would like to show you some chord voicings for comping (both hands). I’ve learned them one by one from a book called “Voicings for Jazz Keyboard” by Frank Mantooth and they happen to sound very effective. I use them nearly all the time when comping.

Basically these voicings are based on 4th interval. What is so special about fourths? Well, just go ahead it try it out:
